lip augmentation
Juvederm (Hyaluronic acid injectable filler) is beautifully structured for use in the lip area. The material is easy to manipulate in sensitive areas like the lips. It lasts 2-4 times longer than Collagen, and it is the identical substance found in the deep layers of our skin and therefore does not require skin testing for allergy. It is very safe to implant. A little swelling may be present for a day or two, and the enhancement retains volume over the course of 6 months to a year, staying soft and natural.
Collagen is also an excellent alternative with a shorter time of volume enhancement. It is a temporary injectable that requires no downtime. Visit the collagen injection page for more information.
Fat transfer/grafting is also an excellent technique in enhancing the lips. It requires a little more recovery time, but provides a long lasting fill. Although not all fat will survive the transfer, what stays is yours forever. As it is harvested from your own body's stored fat, the material is very natural feeling and has no worries of allergic reaction. Swelling will persist longer than that of an injected material such as Juvederm or Collagen, but the results can be more dramatic and longer lasting. Fat transfers to the lips are most often performed when the patient is getting another procedure that requires anesthesia and the operating room. In conjunction with another procedure, the fat grafting to the lips is an economical option to less permanant injectables.
Lip implants, permanent silicone implants placed into the lip itself, are also an option for patients seeking a permanent volumizing solution. Dr. Verbin offers complimentary consultations for patients interested in any of the lip enhancing procedures. At the consultation, he will evaluate your case and describe the options most suitable for your particular needs.
